What does ‘maarte’ mean?

Maarte //maˈʔaɾte/, [mɐˈʔaɾ.tɛ]/ Babayin spelling ᜋᜀᜇ᜔ᜆᜒ/ adj. 1.  artistic 2. artful, artsy 3. dramatic 4. prone to exaggerated reactions (of disgust, pain, or dislike) (colloquial) finicky; nitpicky; choosy 5. pretentious

‘Maarte’ is a Tagalog (language of the Philippines) word that originally meant artful or artsy, and now has a negative connotation when used to describe someone as pretentious. My use of this word within my business is my way of reclaiming its authentic/original meaning and connecting with my heritage, coming into my own as a Filipinx-American.
